THE END OF A CHAPTER Goodbye and Thank You

How do you say goodbye to something you love so much? After years (and years!), the time has come for d² productions to take its final bow. For me, this theatre adventure began nearly 40 years ago, and it has now been 15 years since we founded d² productions. Along the way, I asked myself so many questions: Did we do our best work? Is our best work yet to come? What comes next? Nothing in theatre is ever certain, except perhaps this: I loved every moment—the triumphs, the disasters, the long rehearsals, the thrilling opening nights, and the quiet magic backstage. I wouldn’t change a thing.

We were driven by a heartfelt commitment to producing Canadian plays for Montreal’s English-language theatre community, with a special focus on emerging artists. Our goal was always to create meaningful opportunities for local talent while offering high-quality, accessible theatre to our community. Through resilience, focus, and a deep passion for our art, we persevered through the toughest of times. And sometimes, we even managed to thrive. Boy, did we thrive!

I am endlessly grateful to the many people who made this journey possible—so please bear with me. Thank you to MainLine Theatre and the Montreal Fringe Festival, and especially Amy Blackmore and Kenny Streule, for welcoming us into your fold with such generosity and open hearts. To the entire team at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts, and especially Stephen MacLean Rogers—thank you for your unwavering encouragement and for always making us feel like family. To MSOPA, and to Josa Maule in particular—thank you for your belief, your support, and for teaching me that anything is possible. To my d² team—Raveena Ambani, Max Mehran, Dan, the other half of d², and everyone who was part of our ensemble over the years—thank you for your constant encouragement, your trust, and for tirelessly working behind the scenes to keep us at our best. To the many casts I’ve had the joy and privilege to work with over the years: thank you for your dedication, passion, and generosity in every rehearsal and every production. The memories we made together will stay with me always. To our benefactors and supporters—your generosity sustained us more than you know. And to our audiences—thank you for being there, for believing in our work, and for reminding us why live theatre matters.

As the curtain falls on this chapter, my heart is full. This may be the final curtain call for d² productions, but the love, the stories, the joy, the laughter and the community we built will live on.

With gratitude and love, always,

Dale
